Local Teen Honors Father with Diabetes Education Walk, June 11

September 26, 2016

CUMMINGTON – Clara Thatcher, a Hampshire Regional High School student, has organized a walk in memory of her father who passed from complications with diabetes. Proceeds from the walk benefit Cooley Dickinson Medical Group Diabetes Center, a program of Cooley Dickinson Health Care.

The fourth annual Charles’ Angels Walk for Diabetes Education will take place Saturday, June 11, from 8:30 am to noon at Hampshire Regional High School; the walk will take place rain or shine.

Clara’s father, Charles Thatcher, passed away in 2009 from complications with diabetes. In his memory, Clara, her sister Kayla, and their mother Mandy Caputo established the first Charles’ Angels Walk for Diabetes Education fundraiser in 2013. All proceeds support diabetes education through the Diabetes Center.

The Cooley Dickinson Medical Group Diabetes Center teaches those living with diabetes how to best manage their health through exercise, nutrition, medications and follow-up care.
