Help kids who need care

Each year, more than 9,000 children – newborns through teens – receive care from Cooley Dickinson’s nurses, therapists, and doctors in the Childbirth Center, Emergency Department, and pediatric rehabilitation programs. When you support Cooley Cares for Kids, you're helping kids get better and have a healthy start in life.

In 2012, more than 20 businesses and organizations helped Cooley Dickinson raise $8,000. Thank you for your support, and we hope you'll join us this year. Help us exceed previous years’ totals!

Whether you represent a business, school, or organization, from May 1–31 show your customers, students, or members you care about kids.  Become a Cooley Cares for Kids supporter! Cooley Dickinson provides supplies and promotional materials at no cost. There are three easy ways to participate: Get your Cooley Cares Bear at Burger King

1. Offer Cooley bears for a donation.  Front line sales people become stewards for Cooley Dickinson Hospital. When your sales person assists with a transaction, he or she asks your customers if they would like to donate $1 for a paper bear to be displayed at your business or taken with them or $5 for a plush bear. In return, the customer gets the satisfaction of being charitable and is handed a sheet of coupons from participating businesses that represents more than their $1 or $5 donation.

2. Host or sponsor the spiral wishing well.

Schools, organizations, church youth groups, or clubs looking for a fun community service project can use supplied coin collection boxes to collect spare change for Cooley Cares for Kids.

After the collection is complete, host the wishing well for a day of fun. This activity allows kids and adults to watch donated coins spin around in circles, seeming to defy the laws of gravity as the coins descend the nearly vertical walls of the vortex funnel in the spiral wishing well.

The name of your business will be featured on the wishing well, which usually resides at the Hampshire Mall Food Court, and your business can sponsor the wishing well for a week or a month at a time. In 2012, the wishing well traveled to local schools and Big E’s in Easthampton.

3. Donate your spare change to the TD Bank, America’s Most Convenient Bank® locations on Main Street in Northampton, Amity Street, Amherst, and Newton Street, South Hadley. The TD Bank Penny Arcade machine sorts your coins for free; you do not need to be a TD Bank customer. Once your coins are sorted, take your receipt to the teller to make your donation to Cooley Cares for Kids.
