Return to an inspired life was only steps away

Jan Roby and Marilyn Payne, Physical TherapistOver several years, Jan Roby of Worthington had her right knee deteriorate so much that walking was painful, staircases were insurmountable — and the inspiration and patience to create her beloved paintings and fiber art gradually was vanishing.

When cortisone shots failed to ease Jan's suffering, her doctor encouraged Jan to see a joint specialist at the Cooley Dickinson Center for Human Motion in Northamption. Within months, Jan, had received a total knee replacement in The Joint Replacement Center.

Following surgery, Jan still had a way to go to regain her mobility — but she didn't have to travel far. She received her post-surgical physical therapy at the Hilltown Community Health Center, just minutes from her home. Jan was matched with Marilyn Payne, a highly experienced and credentialed physical therapist. Marilyn, who Jan describes as "nurturing, but not taking any guff," guided Jan through two months of focused therapy, ensuring that her new knee would have a full range of motion without pain.

Today, Jan is walking, gardening, and climbing stairs without pain. What's more, she's creating her art again – and even showing it in a local gallery.

If you're like Jan and have a painful joint condition, come to the experts at: Cooley Dickinson Center for Human Motion Our results are moving.
