A letter to the community about Healthcare Workers Week

To the Community:

During National Healthcare Workers Week, May 8 – 15, I invite you to join me in recognizing the more than 2,000 Cooley Dickinson employees and physicians who take care of our community.

At the hospital as well as at affiliated physician offices, lab drawing stations, rehab centers and in patient's homes, we set aside this week to acknowledge the dedicated people who have helped place Cooley Dickinson in the top 5 percent of hospitals nationwide for patient safety and in the top 25 percent of all home health agencies in the United States.

The talented staff throughout the Cooley Dickinson organization represent a variety of healthcare professions ranging from nursing and finance to respiratory care to housekeeping that contribute to patient care. We all strive toward a common goal: exceeding our patients' expectations.

If you visit us during Healthcare Workers Week, you'll notice that we show our pride in unique ways. We infuse fun into our work by designating days during the week to wear crazy hats and funky ties. Other days we'll don outfits that reflect past generations or represent our favorite sports teams. This year, we also acknowledge the hospital's 125th anniversary with birthday cake and a year-long historical photo display in the hospital's Dakin Conference Room.

As Cooley Dickinson's President and Chief Executive Officer, I am honored to represent such a caring  and dedicated group of healthcare professionals who make Cooley Dickinson a resource that is as strong as the community it serves.
