Physician recognized as Clinician of the Year
NORTHAMPTON, Mass. –  R. Dirk Stanley, MD[img_assist|nid=613|title=R. Dirk Stanley, MD, MPH|desc=|link=none|align=right|width=200|height=301], MPH, was recognized as the Clinician of the Year by the New England Chapter of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS). Stanley works as a hospitalist inpatient physician and as Cooley Dickinson's Chief Medical Information Officer. As CMIO, Stanley says he acts as the "bridge between information technology personnel and the providers, clinical staff and the clinicians who treat patients."

According to a letter from Paula J. Magnanti, MT(ASCP), Vice Chair, HIMSS, Stanley was nominated because of his "leadership as a Physician Executive and Chief Medical Information Officer, dedicated to transforming Healthcare through IT and contributions to the New England Chapter of HIMSS."
