Medical Director, Echocardiography
Dr. Mark Casey is board certified in echocardiography, cardiovascular disease and internal medicine. He earned his medical degree at Tufts University School of Medicine and completed his internship and residency at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester. Dr. Casey completed fellowships at Saint Vincent’s, Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, both in Boston.
Dr. Casey has been on the active medical staff at Cooley Dickinson Hospital since 1988. He is the medical director of Cooley Dickinson’s echocardiography labs.
Stephen DiPillo, MD, FACC, CardiologistStephen DiPillo, MD, FACC, Cardiologist
Dr. Stephen DiPillo completed his fellowship at Rhode Island Hospital/Brown University, and his skills include diagnostic catheterization, nuclear cardiology, stress testing, echocardiography and permanent pacemaker implantation. He has practiced with Northampton Cardiology Associates since 2003.
Prior to joining Northampton Cardiology Associates, Dr. DiPillo was a partner with Pacific Northwest Cardiology in Mount Vernon, Washington, where he was instrumental in starting a nuclear cardiology joint venture with a local hospital. In this role he served as director of cardiac rehabilitation for two years. Dr. DiPillo is board certified in Cardiology. He is also a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology.

Dr. Julia Gates is a board-certified radiologist with a certificate of additional qualification in vascular and interventional radiology. She earned her medical degree at Boston University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Deaconess Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Dr. Gates also completed a fellowship in Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology at the Deaconess Hospital, Boston.
Dr. Gates is a Fellow of the Society of Vascular Medicine and has authored numerous publications and educational presentations on vascular and interventional radiology. She served on and then chaired the American College of Radiology Continuous Professional Involvement Program for vascular and interventional radiology.

Dr. George Hartnell, a cardiovascular specialist with more than 25 years experience in vascular and interventional radiology, is board certified in diagnostic radiology and holds a certificate of additional qualifications in vascular and interventional radiology. He is also a Fellow of the Society of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology and the American College of Cardiology.

Dr. James Kirchhoffer comes to Cooley Dickinson Hospital and Northampton Cardiology Associates after 18 years at Baystate Medical Center, where he served for eight years as Chief of the Cardiology Division. During his tenure as Division Chief, Dr. Kirchhoffer oversaw the development of high-quality programs in interventional cardiology, noninvasive cardiology, heart failure, peripheral vascular disease, prevention and wellness and electrophysiology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a member of the Heart Rhythm Society. His career in cardiology spans over 20 years.
Dr. Kirchhoffer is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and CCEP.
Thomas Marantz, MD, FACC
Thomas Marantz, MD, FACC
Dr. Thomas Marantz is board certified in cardiology, providing clinical management of acute and chronic valvular, coronary and heart muscle disease in inpatient and outpatient settings and in perioperative cardiac surgical care since 1985.
Dr. Marantz earned his medical degree at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He completed an internship in family practice at Cincinnati General Hospital; a residency in internal medicine at The Christ Hospital, also in Cincinnati; a fellowship in general cardiology and a post-fellowship in interventional cardiology, both at Rhode Island Hospital, a teaching hospital associated with Brown Medical School. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology. Dr. Marantz has a longstanding interest in invasive and interventional cardiology.

Dr. Norman Perr trained at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Boston and has been the president of Northampton Cardiology Associates, P.C., in Northampton since 2000. For over 20 years, he has also been an active staff member at Cooley Dickinson Hospital and Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.
Board certified in cardiology, he is a senior clinical instructor of medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, and he is a fellow with the American College of Cardiology.

Dr. Mark Porway holds advanced training and qualifications in interventional cardiology and completed a research fellowship at Baystate Medical Center’s Department of Cardiology. Before coming to Cooley Dickinson Hospital and joining Northampton Cardiology Associates in 2005, Dr. Porway was the Associate Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Labs at Baystate Medical Center and also held the post of Medical Director of Baystate Medical Center’s CICU/Telemetry Department.
In the past year, Dr. Porway has led in the expansion of cardiovascular services at Cooley Dickinson Hospital. He is the medical director of Cooley’s new Cardiovascular Services Suite. Dr. Porway is board certified in Interventional Cardiology. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Society of Angiography and Interventionists.

Dr. Thomas Quinn is the medical director of Cardiovascular Services at Cooley Dickinson Hospital and previously served as chief of cardiology at the hospital. He has held many leadership positions in his field, having served as president of the American Heart Association’s Western Massachusetts Division, president of Hampshire Heart and Health Center in Northampton and vice president and president of Cooley Dickinson’s Medical Staff.
Dr. Quinn is board certified in cardiology and is the founding partner of Northampton Cardiology Associates, P.C. He is a fellow with the American College of Cardiology.

Dr. Thomas R. Weil has been a partner with Northampton Cardiology Associates since 1994. He is certified by the Cardiovascular Disease Board and is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Before joining his Florence practice, Dr. Weil was the director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Lovelace Medical Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico, for three years. He also has served as the Senior Instructor in Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine. Dr. Weil is board certified in Cardiology and is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology

Dr. Steven Weinsier, is a cardiologist with specialized training in peripheral vascular disease and coronary interventions. Dr. Weinsier is on the medical staff at Cooley Dickinson Hospital and is a cardiologist at Northampton Cardiology Associates.
Dr. Weinsier earned his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine and completed his residency at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore. He completed his cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology fellowship programs at Rhode Island Hospital and Miriam Hospital; both hospitals are part of Brown University. He holds board certification in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Nuclear Cardiology.
Dr. Weinsier specializes in peripheral vascular disease which the American Heart Association defines as diseases of the blood vessels outside of the heart and brain. In addition to diagnostic angiography, Dr. Weinsier performs ballooning (angioplasty), stenting and plaque removal (atherectomy) in narrowed blood vessels supplying the legs, arms, kidneys and abdomen.
