Created by the late Senator Edward Kennedy for care he received at Cooley Dickinson Hospital following a plane crash in Southampton that claimed the life of his aide Edward Moss, The Edward Moss Memorial Scholarship was presented to Samantha Fabian, a certified nursing assistant on the medical/surgical unit. The award will help Fabian realize her goal of completing her Associates Degree in Nursing at Greenfield Community College.

Mary Marquard, RN in the Radiation Oncology Department, received the Therese Connor Nursing Education Endowed Fund. The fund was established by friends and family in memory of the late Therese Connor, a CDH School of Nursing alumna and long-time nurse. Mary is delighted to use this year’s award to attend the Annual Nursing Society Conference to network with colleagues and to learn new technology and alternative treatments to benefit patients.

The Louise Finn Nursing Scholarship was given for the first time in honor of Louise, a nurse who worked in the Childbirth Center for over 50 years. The award is given to a child of a current CDH employee who is pursuing a nursing degree. This year, Louise’s husband Stanley was delighted to meet recipient Johanna Bradley, daughter of Diane Bradley, Director of Managed Care for the Cooley Dickinson Physician Hospital Organization. Said Stanley, “Johanna’s compassion and great desire to care for others makes her a perfect choice to receive this help that will support her nursing studies at Greenfield Community College. Louise and our children will be thrilled.”

As a tribute to his commitment to professional development and education, the Donald “Skip” Jandzinski Memorial Scholarship was established in his memory to help underwrite the education of a fellow laboratory employee. The award was presented by Skip’s wife and current CDH employee Mary Jandzinski. The support that Darren Masloski will receive will help him to complete his studies in Radiologic Technologies at Holyoke Community.

During a separate ceremony this fall, the CDH School of Nursing Alumni Association Scholarship will be awarded to Taylor Aubin, a Smith Vocational graduate planning to study at Greenfield Community College.
