“I am a family physician who has practiced in diverse settings of college student health centers, community health centers, and multi-specialty groups since 1993. Taking care of patients and sharing each person’s life journey is a privilege to me. I specifically practice with the Functional Medicine approach.’
Dr. Richard Chen received his Institute of Functional Medicine certification in 2014. Most recently he was working at Visions Health Care for the last several years in Dedham, MA, where he was helping patients find the underlying root causes of their illnesses.
He received his MD with honors 1990 from Albany Medical College followed by a 3 year family practice in Somerville, NJ. He worked in community health in Massachusetts for 13 years and became interested in functional medicine after a course about food as medicine. After learning functional medicine he was able to use that knowledge to help his daughter and himself regain their health. He has a love of learning and has studied with leading experts in functional medicine, bio-identical hormone replacement, and genetics (Dr. Ben Lynch). He has an interest in autoimmune, thyroid, adrenal, gut issues, autism, and genetics issues.
He helps patients with dietary and lifestyle modifications, and often recommends nutritional therapies to improve the body’s health.
