At Cooley Dickinson Hospital, we believe that our patients' physical, emotional and spiritual needs are all of great importance. We make every effort to offer patients the opportunity to talk about their worries, fears or anxieties; to practice their religious faith; and to express their spiritual concerns. We encourage local clergy to make regular visits to patients.
While you are in the hospital, you may request a visit by a member of the clergy or the chaplain. If you would like to make arrangements for such a visit, please contact the hospital's interfaith chaplain at (413) 582-2869. Your nurse will also offer assistance in arranging such a visit.
Our Case Management Department offers supportive counseling to patients and also helps arrange for home care services and transfers to nursing homes or rehabilitation centers.
Pastoral Care
Our interfaith chaplain is available to spend time with patients of all faiths. The chaplain's role at the hospital is to minister to the spiritual, emotional and religious needs of any patient. Offering spiritual counseling to patients and their families, the chaplain is also a source of personal spiritual support and is a liaison to other clergy in the area. Your own clergy person is, of course, welcome to visit you in the hospital at any time. If you wish to contact our interfaith chaplain, please call (413) 582-2869.
Chapel
An interfaith chapel is located on the second floor of the hospital and is accessible to patients, families and clergy who seek an environment for prayer, worship 01 meditation. Your nurse will be glad to help you locate the chapel, which is open 24 hours a day.
Support Groups
The hospital offers various programs and support groups about healing the spirit and related themes of aging, grief and loss, living with HIV/AIDS and living with cancer. Please call the chaplain at (413) 582-2869 for information about these programs, or visit our calendar of events for more information.
