Adult & Pediatric Hospitalist programs
One of a hospital’s primary goals should be to keep you from coming back to the hospital. In most cases, the best way to try to achieve that goal is to make sure everything goes like clockwork during your stay, from check-in to check-out, and to make sure all your medication, follow-up care and post-discharge rehab or therapy needs are arranged, explained and understood. Whether you yourself are the patient or you’re trying to provide the best for your child or aging parent, Cooley Dickinson’s hospitalists are here to make sure you receive the best-coordinated care available.
Adult Hospitalist Program
The Cooley Dickinson hospitalists are highly qualified, board-certified providers who specialize in caring for hospitalized adults. They are team leaders within the hospital, coordinating your care among the doctors, nurses, subspecialists and other key clinical staff from the time you are admitted until you go home. We have doctors in the hospital 24 hours a day to handle any emergencies.
Adult hospitalist providers will communicate with your family as you desire and will keep your primary doctor informed as to your condition, progress and discharge. A full summary of your hospital stay is sent to your doctor the day you are discharged. If a rehabilitation or nursing facility transfer is required, your hospitalist will discuss this with you and will coordinate with the therapists and your case manager. You should feel free to ask your hospitalist any questions regarding your plan of care.
Pediatric Hospitalist Program
Cooley Dickinson pediatric hospitalists provide 24-hour medical care to children ages newborn to 18 years of age. The pediatric hospitalists also attend deliveries and provide newborn care.
Our pediatric hospitalists are available immediately to treat clinical conditions as they arise, perform ongoing testing and monitoring as needed, and provide consultations to emergency medicine providers and other specialists.
Our pediatric hospitalists make great efforts to keep your family informed and involved in every stage of pediatric diagnosis and treatment. We also coordinate your child’s care with your regular pediatrician, keeping him or her informed of the child’s condition, progress, and plans for discharge. If your child needs to be transferred to another medical facility, the pediatric hospitalist will discuss the transition with you and coordinate with Cooley Dickinson’s nursing and case management teams.
