Mental illness impacts the lives of at least one in four
families and one in 10 children.
A top issue identified in Cooley Dickinson Health Care’s 2013 community health assessment was mental health, which includes conditions or illnesses such as depression.
Many Hampshire County residents said mental illness is a concern and more access to services and programs is needed to help people living with mental illness and their families and friends.
To address these findings and to recognize National Mental Health Month, Cooley Dickinson, in collaboration with area organizations, will host the first annual Mental Health Education Fair, Saturday, May 3, 2014, from 10 am–4 pm, Dakin Conference Room, Cooley Dickinson Hospital.
Guest speakers include Northampton Mayor David Narkewicz and Bernice Drumheller, president, National Alliance
on Mental Illness of Western Massachusetts.
