The Volunteer program consists of two groups: the Buddies Program, the Bridges Program. Volunteers in both programs have undergone extensive training related to HIV and the issues confronting people with HIV/AIDS. The Buddies Program provides one-on-one social and practical support to clients. The Bridges program is designed to provide transportation assistance with shopping and other practical support to AIDS CARE clients. All AIDS CARE volunteers receive ongoing training and supervision from both regular contact with the Volunteer Coordinator as well as mandatory monthly peer supervision and support group meetings.
Client services volunteers work about 3 hours per week providing a social connection or rides or similar practical support for people living with HIV or AIDS.
Other brief or ongoing opportunities include fundraising organizing, event assistance, office assistance, newsletter writing, special project coordination and much more.
