Cooley Dickinson offers an Anticoagulation/Coumadin Clinic to help you and your physician monitor the effect of Coumadin (warfarin), a blood thinner.

This medication is prescribed to prevent and treat blood clots.

With a physician's referral, you will have access to convenient appointments and immediate test results/instructions. Clinic staff collaborate with Dr. George Bowers, a medical oncologist/hematologist.

In the clinic, our nurse

• does finger-stick blood tests and interprets the results;
• adjusts your dosage, as needed; and
• provides education about interactions with diet and other medications, and communicates with you physician about your results.

Clinic hours are offered Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday 7:30 a.m. to noon in Northampton, and Wednesday, 7:30 a.m. to noon, in Amherst.
