Professional Choices
It is your option to have either an obstetrician / gynecologist or a nurse midwife assist your birth at the Childbirth Center. Every member of our staff holds the highest professional credential.
From the moment you enter the Childbirth center until your departure, you'll have the comfort of knowing that a coordinated team of medical professionals is there for you to ensure the finest possible care and the utmost in comfort.
We're Waiting To Welcome You
When you enter the childbirth center, a nurse who has been alerted to your arrival will be waiting to extend a warm greeting. She will take you and your partner to a private room where you will spend the hours ahead.
Close, Personal Attention
The nurse who first greeted you will care for you throughout your labor and delivery, if possible. We know you will appreciate having a consistent presence beside you. When you need advice or encouragement or have questions, your nurse, obstetrician or midwife will be there for you.
Birthing Rooms Designed For Your Comfort
Our birthing rooms are an ideal place to labor and birth your child. Many comforts are provided to help you and your partner or family members labor together in as relaxed a manner as possible. Each birthing room has a rocking chair, a telephone, a television, an AM-FM-CD stereo, and a private bath outfitted with a labor Jacuzzi.
Your baby can stay right with you after birth and an overhead warmer can be rolled over to your bed so that you can hold your baby while both of you are bathed in comforting warmth. Should you require a cesarean birth, you will remain within the Childbirth Center. The same nursing staff will accompany you just across the hall to a more specialized delivery room for your baby's birth.
Your Family And Friends Are Important
Our spacious birthing rooms are designed to accommodate not only you, your partner or support person, and your baby; but also grandparents, family, and friends who wish to be with you. The immediate bonding that occurs between these people and your baby is as important to us as it is to you. If you have other children, they are welcome to remain for the birth and may hold their new brother or sister soon after the birth, if you like.

The Choices Are Yours
Throughout your time with us, the choices you make are always respected. You are welcome to create the supportive environment that works best for you, including bringing your favorite music from home, wearing your own nightgown or pajamas, using the telephone in your room, or watching television. You may choose to labor with or without medication. You and your partner are the most important members of your Childbirth Center team. We encourage you to take an active role in making decisions about your birth plan and the care of your new baby.
