Options for the Early Days After Birth
At Cooley Dickinson Hospital, our commitment to family-centered childbirth care includes supporting you and your new family. In addition to the quality care and teaching you receive from the Childbirth Center staff, you can choose from several options for postpartum care when you are medically ready to go home. Your options include one of the following.
Maternal-child Nurse
- Less than forty-eight hours after a vaginal birth
- Less than ninety-six hours after a cesarean birth
- Home visit by a maternal-child nurse
Childbirth Center care
- Forty-eight hours following a vaginal birth
- Ninety-six hours following a cesarean birth
- Home visit by a maternal-child nurse
