We understand the desire to have family and friends accompany patients during their stay in the Emergency Department. However, too many visitors can interfere with our ability to care for our patients effectively. We are also concerned with maintaining the confidentiality of the other patients who may be in adjacent treatment areas. We request that visitors be limited to two people and that the visitors remain in the patient's room. However, when critically ill patients arrive visitation may be limited.
Visitors may be asked to wait in the lobby when patients are being examined, or when a procedure is performed.
Both parents may stay with young children being treated in the Emergency Department. If you have other children with you we prefer that you have a friend or relative watch them at home or in the lobby while your other child is being treated.
Visitors are requested to check with the triage nurse to determine the condition of their friend or relative and when they may go in to visit. Please do not walk into the Triage Area when another person is being treated.
Also, please note that the Emergency Department staff must protect patient confidentiality. We cannot give out information about any patient treated in the Emergency Department.
