Kittredge Surgery Center

The Kittredge Surgery Center, located within the North Building at Cooley Dickinson Hospital is named for Michael and Lisa Kittredge who generously donated $1 million to support and expand access to locally available health care services. Opened in 2007, the Center features spacious surgical suites and private preoperative and postoperative recovery areas.

Since its opening, the Center has invested in state-of-the-art technology including the da Vinci® S Surgical System. Using the da Vinci S, Cooley Dickinson-affiliated surgeons can perform major procedures making the smallest incisions possible. This means less blood loss, less discomfort, far less potential for scarring and significantly shorter recovery times. Read what our patients have to say about their treatment.

Members of the Cooley Dickinson Hospital medical staff perform a variety of surgical procedures using the da Vinci Surgical System including surgical removal of the prostate (prostatectomies), surgical removal of the kidney (nephrectomies), surgical removal of the gallbladder (cholecystectomies) and surgical removal of all or part of the colon (colectomies).

While some surgeries are not performed robotically, many can be done using minimally invasive techniques using laparoscopic procedures and tiny instruments. In the field of joint replacement, Cooley Dickinson surgeons have been specially trained to create smaller incisions and preserve more tissue. For many that means less bleeding, less discomfort and a shorter recovery time

The da Vinci S, the GreenLight™ laser and other sophisticated equipment aid surgeons, nurses and staff in providing patients with top quality care. With Cooley Dickinson’s minimally invasive surgery and robotics program, patients can have major surgery without making major lifestyle adjustments.
