Cooley Dickinson Hospital’s Occupational Health Services offers a comprehensive range of health services specific to the needs of employers and employees in the Pioneer Valley.
Located within the hospital’s main campus at 30 Locust St. in Northampton, we are open Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. When our offices are closed, services are provided by the hospital’s 24-hour Emergency Department.
When appropriate, other services such as medical testing, physical therapy and occupational therapy will be provided from our convenient outpatient centers in Northampton, Amherst, Hadley, Easthampton and South Deerfield.
Services include:
Regulated Department of Transit (DOT) physical—Initial & recertification exams
Pre-placement examinations, including basic lifting assessment
OSHA-mandated respirator exams and respirator mask-fit testing
Hearing conservation program
Management of acute traumatic workplace injury
Management of chronic overuse injuries, muscle strains and tendinitis, including
Joint injection
Referral to personal physicians for non-work related conditions
Case management and disability management
Return-to-work examinations
Laceration repairs
Chemical exposure management
Eye injury management
Cadmium and/or lead surveillance
DOT and non-DOT urine drug screening and breath alcohol testing for pre-placement,
for-cause or post-accident examinations
Hair collection for drug screening
Latex allergy evaluations
Management of blood/body substance exposures, with highest priority given to these patients so that they are treated within one to two hours of exposure
Vaccinations and Tuberculosis skin testing
Color blind testing

About the director:
Cate Wilson is a nurse practitioner with over eight years of experience in occupational and employee health. She is excited about leading a practice that provides top-notch medical services to employers in the community.
About the staff:
Peter Betjemann, MD, has been a member of the team since this practice began over 10 years ago. Dr. Betjemann is available to see patients weekly.
Jason Loftus, PA-C, is our full-time clinician. He has worked in occupational medicine for seven years.
Janice Hoffman, MA, has over 16 years experience in occupational health. She assists clinicians with patient care and coordinates all referral services with employer representatives.
Christine Kulig-White is the front office assistant. She handles everything from setting up client accounts to scheduling appointments to making sure the clinic runs smoothly. Chris has more than 10 years experience in occupational health.
